Though not yet actually boarding. And mobile battery almost flat. Think I left the spare behind too. However bank confirmed all ok in account so problem must be comms. Hope so!
My Penguin's Egg omelette of web accessibility, photoblogging, family history, what happened to me on the way to work, and anything else that moves me to post a few words or a picture here...

Estimated time of departure for my flight out of Zurich now 22.40. Sigh...

Well I found an ATM and was able to withdraw 50 CHF so at least I know the card is working. And now I've been able to buy something to eat and drink!

They've just announced it's not due to leave now until 22.15. That means I won't arrive in Nice until 23.30! And I'm a bit worried because I tried to buy some Euros at the Travellex desk using my Maestro card, but it was refused. But I know there should be plenty of funds in that account.

Why can't everywhere be this civilised?

Very quiet this time in the evening (20.40 local time) and onward flight to Nice which should have left 10 mins ago is delayed. Goodness knows what time I'll actually get there!

Thistle Hotel Marble Arch, office, Cannes (view larger image in Flickr).
Not your average day, admittedly, but not as unusual as you might think, in this job.
First, to the hotel at Marble Arch, where I'm due to give a presentation on web accessibility (well, what else would it be likely to be about!) at a seminar on "Intranets for the public sector". Rather a nice hotel it is too - the photo is a shot of some of the decor in one of the hotel lounges.
Then back to the office for a couple of hours to answer questions, emails etc.
And now I'm on my way (late, as ever) to Heathrow to catch a flight to Nice, to attend the W3C Plenary Day tomorrow.

Could you imagine these as Yakmen?! Indeed! We're having difficulty with that leap of imagination too!

Weird - just received the email notifications for comments being left on here on the 10th, 12th and 14th of February, and the comments have just appeared on the blog. Where have they been hiding until now, though?!

Something to look forward to - Henny and I have been given the go-ahead to attend the W3C Technical Plenary week in Mandelieu (Cannes) at the end of February. Should be interesting and fun!

Well it's been a hectic few weeks. There were some issues which came up relating to the restructuring going on at RNIB, and then Ann, who was doing an excellent job with our annual contribution to the Socitm Better Connected report, went down with a serious dose of flu. I've done little else over the past two weeks but work on that, with help from Ann before her brain and body got too fuzzed to do anything much, and from the others in the team. Finally got the bulk of it done - just a few bits to finish off this weekend, and then we can look forward to Better Connected 2007. Oh joy! :)
